Where It All Began
Kenny Russell was a 17-year-old student at Haltom High School when his FFA advisor told him to "Go get that feed store job." Kenny started his career working as Pete Ruthardt's only employee at Ruthardt Pet & Feed Centers.
Russell Feed & Supply Is Born
Pete Ruthardt, looking to retire, offered to sell Kenny 3 of the Ruthardt Feed stores they had grown together. Kenny purchased the Jacksboro Hwy, Benbrook, and Camp Bowie West locations, and the name was changed to Russell Feed & Supply.
Expanding to Azle
Kenny purchased A & A Farm Store on Highway 199 in Azle. With the expansion of the highway, the store was relocated to S E Parkway in a brand new building.
Crowley Joins the Family
Crowley Feed Store in Crowley was purchased and became the 5th Russell Feed location.
Corporate Office Opens
A corporate office building was completed and all corporate employees moved to the new facility.
New Warehouse Facility
A warehouse facility was completed and all distributed items were moved to the new facility.
Completing the Circle
Kenny purchased the final Ruthardt Feed in Haltom City from Pete Ruthardt's son-in-law, bringing the original stores back together under one roof.
First Store Built from the Ground Up
Russell Feed built a 12,000-square-foot store in the Saginaw/Haslet area — the company's first ground-up build.
Hay Storage Facility
Russell Feed opened a 25,000-square-foot hay storage facility to ensure the quality and supply of hay and shavings products.
Warehouse Expansion
A 7,500-square-foot addition to the corporate warehouse was completed.
New Azle Store
Russell Feed relocated its Azle store to a brand new 14,000-square-foot facility.
A Family Business, Officially
Kenny's daughter, Megan, joined the company after graduating from college, making Russell Feed & Supply a multi-generational, family-owned, and operated company.
Decatur Location
Russell Feed purchased AGvantage Farm and Ranch in Decatur, becoming the 8th location.
Crowley Relocation
Russell Feed relocated its Crowley store to a brand new 12,500-square-foot facility next door. The original location was repurposed for 6,500 square feet of additional warehousing.
RFI Warehouse Grows
RFI, Russell Feed's corporate warehouse, added an extra 10,000 square feet of warehouse space plus office space for 3 more staff members.
Camp Bowie West Relocation
The Camp Bowie West store was relocated to a new 15,500-square-foot store.
Texas Family Business of the Year
Baylor University's Institute for Family Business honored Russell Feed & Supply as the 2019 Texas Family Business of the Year Community Commitment Award Winner.
Weatherford Opens - Store #9
Russell Feed opened its 9th location at 2610 S. Main Street in Weatherford, Texas.
Cleburne Opens - Store #10
Russell Feed opened its 10th location at 1731 N Main Street in Cleburne, Texas.
New Benbrook Location
Russell Feed moved into the new Benbrook location at 8704 Hwy 377 South, Benbrook, TX 76126.
Granbury — Store #11
Russell Feed purchased Arrow Feed & Ranch in Granbury from the Shafer family, becoming the 11th location.
#1 in Horse Feed Growth
Russell Feed was recognized by Purina as #1 in horse feed growth in the country, receiving the "Top Gun" award in Vienna, Austria.

Ruthardt Feed Store, 1970s
